DANIIL DEMICHEV — DIRECTOR

With an upbringing steeped in classic American cinema but rooted in a post-Soviet Russian context, he infuses commercials, music videos and narrative projects with a distinct blend of influences — the frenetic energy of Gaspar Noé, the brooding darkness of David Fincher, and the character work of Tarantino and Jarmusch.

With a preference for shooting on 16mm film, he brings a gritty, grungy aesthetic to his projects: deeply saturated lighting, Eastern European texture, and a standing appetite for pyrotechnics and practical effects.

Most of his commercial work looks like a scene lifted from a feature — short format given visual and dramatic volume. Over the last six years he has shot at least five controlled explosions, used less as demolition than as an emotional trigger.
