Daniil X is a Los Angeles–based director and actor working across music videos, commercials, and narrative films.

BIO
After building a directing career in Moscow, his life took a turn in 2022 when he was detained for filming an anti-war protest and subsequently charged, he escaped motherhood same year.
In Los Angeles, his work has become increasingly personal. With an upbringing steeped in classic American cinema but rooted in a post-Soviet Russian context, he infuses commercials, music videos and narrative projects with a distinct blend of influences — the frenetic energy of early Guy Ritchie, the brooding darkness of David Fincher, and the character work of Tarantino and Jarmusch.
His short "Up To Ten" is a restless existential drama about losing one's footing. His own love story inspired "MUTT (Remix)" for Leon Thomas x Freddie Gibbs, nominated for Best R&B at the 2025 MTV VMAs. A pilot starring John Fiore is forthcoming. His works featured on Kodak Shotfilm and EyeCandy.
With a preference for shooting on 16mm film, he brings a gritty, grungy aesthetic to his projects: deeply saturated lighting, Eastern European texture, and a standing appetite for pyrotechnics and practical effects.
Most of his commercial work looks like a scene lifted from a feature — short format given visual and dramatic volume. Over the last six years he has shot at least five controlled explosions, used less as demolition than as an emotional trigger.
